The motorcyclist hospitalised by former Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has broken his silence – branding him a “liar”. Sebastián Dávilaslammed the ex-Ger, saying he may never be able to walk normally.

The collision took place last week in Morelos’ homeland of Colombia, where he now plays for Atlético Nacional, on loan from Brazilian side Santos.

Dávila, a Nacional fan, was struck on the Guarne-Airport road on the morning of Wednesday, October 23, suffering multiple fractures in both legs, one of his hands and his ribs.

He also has internal fissures, and doctors at the San Vicente Fundación Hospital in Rionegro told him that he will remain there for at least another month.

The 27-year-old told mioriente.com: “I am not looking for fame, I am a very hard-working person. I am a technician at the José María Córdova Airport in Rionegro. The day of the accident I was on my way to work.

“The truth is that I feel like it destroyed my life. I don’t know if I will ever walk normally again. They say I am in a very delicate condition, I must be monitored 24 hours a day, I have also lost a lot of blood.”

Morelos, 28, said in a statement that he regretted the incident, adding: “I have been committed to collaborating with his recovery and to offering all my disposition to the authorities so that the facts are clarified in a fair manner.”

But, when asked “is it true what Alfredo Morelos said in a statement yesterday; that he has been committed to supporting your recovery?”, Dávila said: “That’s a lie. He hasn’t been with us at all, we’ve faced this alone as a family.”

Dávila made the comments in an interview with Colombian news outlet Mi Oriente. Sebastián’s partner, Natalia Gutiérrez, said she had used unpaid leave and holidays to stay by his side in hospital.

She said: “We know that the player’s car was destroyed like that, because he tried to flee dragging the motorcycle, fortunately the community that was at the site stopped him.

“I was face to face with him and he never apologised, he never said anything to me. It made me angry to read the statement he released yesterday, saying that he had been supporting us, when that is totally false.

“It broke my heart to read that. He thinks he can walk all over others. We expected him to apologise to Sebas or the family in that statement, but he didn’t. This is an irresponsible act. That’s not a mistake. He played with his life and Sebastian’s.”

Finally, both explained that they have evidence that Alfredo Morelos did indeed invade the opposite lane, which is already in the hands of the Attorney General’s Office, as well as the contributions of several witnesses.

The statement Morelos posted on X continued: “A few days ago, I was involved in a traffic accident while I was on my way to training. Although it was an unexpected and unfortunate situation, unfortunately, one person was injured.

“I sincerely regret any inconvenience this incident has caused and could have caused to the club and my teammates. I deeply appreciate the support that they have given me and I regret having generated concern in those who trust my commitment.

“I am clear how much this shirt means to me and how much I value each team member. Thank you, fans, for your unconditional support.

“I remain focused and more committed than ever to defending these colours with dedication and passion. With the help of God and justice, I hope that all the details will soon be clarified.”

Although Club Atlético Nacional offered Sebastián and his family a dialogue with the team’s social worker, but they decline the offer. Police say Morelos was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, giving grade 2 in the breathalyser test.
