During a heartfelt discussion on ITV’s Loose Women, Kaye Adams had to leave the set.
The popular presenter was engaged in a deep conversation with her co-hosts Olivia Attwood, Nadia Sawalha, and Denise Welch on Thursday, (October 31). The topic centred around Nadia’s husband Mark Adderley and his triumphant 20 years of sobriety, an achievement that nearly coincided with their marriage almost falling apart.
Nadia admitted if it weren’t for their daughter Kiki, she might have left him long before reaching this milestone. However, as Nadia opened up about the challenges within her marriage and Marks battle with alcohol, the studio fell silent, absorbed by her moving story.
It was during this moment of raw honesty that viewers saw Kaye begin to struggle visibly, prompting her to discreetly exit. As she departed, Nadia acknowledged with concern that was Kaye’s struggling off camera, only to mention to someone in the audience afterward that she’d been “choked up”, reports the Mirror.
Not wanting to interrupt, Kaye crept off set as Nadia looked up and said: “Are you alright? Do you want some water?” Before adding: “She’s got a tickle.”
Acknowledging the need for the show to continue, despite Kaye’s unexpected departure, Nadia, Olivia, and Denise pushed forward, guiding the dialogue in Kaye’s absence.
However, whilst they proceeded, the sound of what appeared to be Kaye having a “coughing fit” could be discerned in the background, drawing attention from both the studio audience and those at home.
The trio did their utmost to fill the gap left by Kaye’s temporary absence, as she took a few moments to regain her composure. As Nadia concluded, there was a thunderous applause from the audience.
Fortunately, Kaye had recovered and was prepared to resume her hosting duties, waving to worried fans to reassure them that she was now alright. In another segment of the show, the conversation shifted to infidelity and whether it was acceptable for women to cheat but not men. The panel seemed to unanimously agree that there were some “double standards” when it came to women being unfaithful.
Leading the discussion, former Love Island star Olivia Attwood admitted to having different views of her girlfriends, stating that “they could do no wrong in her eyes”, but acknowledged that if a man did the same, it would be an entirely different conversation.
The sentiment was back-up by her co-star Denise, who agreed, adding: “I guess people would think that a woman would cheat because their needs aren’t men but men just do it because they can.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1, from 12:30pm.
