MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. -Mountain Valley Elementary School is celebrating with their fourth annual trick-or-treat day.
Bringing 40 vendors, including parents, community members, businesses and more, students were given the chance to dress up and collect tons of candy.
“We’ve got a couple faculties here that worship with us, and we’ve got several students worship with us as well. We just love to support our community and our kids. It’s just fun to see their excitement, and we dress up, we enjoy the fun of it too,” said Jermiah Holcomb, Minister of Maple View Church of Christ.
This event is one the students and faculty look forward to each year. Planning for the event begins at the start of the school year.
The principal for the school says this Halloween tradition makes sure all their kids get to celebrate the holiday.
“Trick or treat day is so important to us because we realize some of our students may not get to trick or treat for whatever reason. Maybe their parents are working, maybe they’re sick, but we give them this opportunity to trick or treat,” said Teresa Guill, Principal of Mountain Valley Elementary School.
All participants enjoy from the students to candy givers. Those givers say that making sure these kids get candy makes it all worth it after seeing those smiles shine across their faces.
