The mother was booked into a jail near San Antonio and now faces two felony charges.

MART, Texas — A woman faces felony charges after allegedly giving her child drugs while at a detention facility near Waco.

According to the Office of Inspector General, 37-year-old Sabrina Martinez faces two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for giving her child a controlled substance during a visit.

The arrest stemmed from a July investigation at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility in Mart. Authorities said Martinez is the mother of a child at the facility and hid illegal drugs during her visit before giving it to her child.

She now faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance to a child and possession of a prohibited substance at a correctional facility, which are both felonies in Texas.

Martinez was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail in San Antonio.
