ORLANDO, Fla. (Gray News) – A 17-year-old was taken into custody early Friday morning in connection to a deadly shooting in Florida.
Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith says the first shots were fired after 1 a.m. as people were still gathered downtown for Halloween-related celebrations.
Two people were killed and six others were injured in the shooting, according to Smith.
The six surviving victims were taken to an Orlando-area hospital.
The teen, who the chief said was previously arrested for grand theft in 2023, was quickly taken into custody after police witnessed him firing a gun.
Smith said the investigation is ongoing and did not immediately provide a possible motive for the shooting.
