A Scottish hotel and restaurant that has been described as “excellent” can currently be booked at a major discount.

McKays is situated in the heart of the charming Perth and Kinross town of Pitlochry. It is a traditional hotel, bar, and restaurant that features newly refurbished luxury guest rooms.

At the moment, an overnight stay for two at the hotel is available for £69 through Wowcher. This marks a 47 per cent discount off the standard cost of £131.

All of the rooms at McKays include flatscreen televisions, hot drink making facilities, and en-suite bathrooms with Highland Soap Co toiletries. The Wowcher deal also includes breakfast in the morning and a late 11am checkout.

Meanwhile, the restaurant at McKays serves up local and Scottish produce in a relaxed and dog-friendly environment. Among the standouts of the dinner menu are haddock and chips, haggis, neeps, and tatties, and Thai red curry.

McKays has received mostly very positive feedback from visitors. On Tripadvisor, the hotel has an average rating of four out of five based on 2,512 reviews.

One recent visitor wrote: “Full marks to staff for the cleanliness of rooms, excellent bathroom facilities, plenty of staff on hand for their attentiveness to serve with a courteous manner, we had a Sunday package which was excellent value, Sunday roast, and morning breakfast.”

A second shared: “Mackays is one of our favourite go to places in Pitlochry. The location is central, the pub/restaurant part of the hotel always has a great atmosphere and the food, from a wide ranging menu, is fine, albeit a bit pricey.”

A third Tripadvisor user posted: “Excellent hotel with friendly efficient staff always happy to help. Great food and comfortable rooms.”

Meanwhile, a slightly less positive review of the restaurant reads: “The Scottish version of a fast food restaurant. You order at a counter and they get your food.

“Limited drinks, but the bar next door had a great selection of whiskeys and beer.”

Outside of the hotel, there is plenty to see and do around Pitlochry. A few of the highlights are the Blair Athol Distillery where you can learn about whisky, the picturesque Loch Faskally, and the historic Blair Castle and Gardens.

If you are keen to stay in Pitlochry, but McKays doesn’t appeal, there are plenty of other options for accommodation around town. Among these are the historic Pitlochry Hydro Hotel and the five-star Fonab Castle Hotel.
