Remember, remember your jackets for the 5th of November! Whilst the Bonfire Night fun is nearly here, the weather across the country isn’t looking too promising.
Although for the wider UK, the Met Office forecasts an improvement compared to recent years, Scotland is set to have a period of ‘unsettled weather’ at the start of next week.
Past celebrations have been marred by heavy rain or fog, with latest reports indicating that Scotland, particularly Glasgow, predictions indicating 10C accompanied by a 70 percent chance of rain and gusts near 17mph.
Aberdeen is set to be even colder at around 9C. Wednesday, November 6, will see temperatures pick up again across many areas including Glasgow and Edinburgh sitting around 14C.
Elsewhere, parts of northern England can expect temperatures to hover around 10°C on the evening of November 5, offering medium visibility and low wind speeds. In the south of the UK, conditions will be fairly similar but slightly warmer at approximately 13C.
And people should brace themselves for much colder conditions, especially noticeable during the morning hours.
Starting from November 5, the Met Office’s long-term weather outlook suggests: “High pressure is likely to dominate the weather across many parts of the UK during this period. This will mean plenty of dry and settled weather for most, although it may be fairly cloudy at times.

“Where skies clear overnight some areas of fog and frost are likely to develop. Southern areas are expected to be mainly dry during this period, while any more unsettled conditions and periods of rain are more likely to affect areas further north, particularly the north and northwest of Scotland and Northern Ireland.”
They also predict that “Winds will likely be light in the south, but there could be some spells of strong winds across the north and west. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, although some cold nights are possible at times.”
Furthermore, from November 15, it is anticipated that the weather will start to become “unsettled” with an “increased chance of periods of wet and windy weather for parts of the UK, perhaps more so in the south”.
