Ashley Storrie has paid a touching tribute to her mum Janey Godley after her death was announced on Saturday morning. The comedian passed away at around 7am at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow surrounded by family and friends.
The 63-year-old has battled ovarian cancer since 2021 before she made the devastating announcement the disease had spread and she was admitted to the hospice as he faced end of life care. Ashley shared a video and thanked the staff at the hospice and everyone who supported her mum as she battled cancer.
She said: “My mum Janey Godley died this morning about 7 o’clock. She was with friends and family, and I wanted to tell you face-to-face because it felt very much what she would have wanted.
“She went peacefully and I wanted to say thanks to all the staff at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, and I want to thank mum’s family who were around her throughout these last horrible days. My auntie Elaine, auntie Monica, Shirley, Giovanna, Tony Kelly, my daddy, Honey and Julie Sutherland.
“Thank you so much for being there and making a very, very scary moment peaceful and a nice transition. And I want to thank all of you for your kindness and support and I believe in my heart of hearts that she felt every bit of love that you sent to her and I think that it kept her going. I think genuinely we got her longer because of all the support and love in the world but that’s it.
“It is over now, so thank you once again. So, bye Ma’. Frank get the door.”
