Kim Kardashian has been seen wearing the iconic Amethyth cross worn by Princess Diana several times in the 80s.

Kim, 44, has stepped out in an iconic necklace once worn by Diana, the late Princess of Wales.

The reality TV star was snapped wearing a plunging white Gucci gown with a huge cross necklace adorned with diamonds and amethysts while attending the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles.

The 1920s pendant was made by luxury jewelry designer Garrard, which Princess Diana wore on many occasions, most famously at a charity gala evening on behalf of birthright at Garrard in 1987.

In January 2023 Kim bought the necklace called the Attallah Cross at Sotheby’s in London.

The cross has a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats and was notably worn by the Princess in October 1987.

Kim’s rep bought it for £163,800 – more than double its pre-auction estimate.

Businessman Naim Attallah first bought the cross from Garrard in the 1980s. The businessman was friends with Diana and lent it to her on several occasions over the years.

This isn’t the only archival fashion piece from a dead celebrity that the star owns, as she has purchased items once belonging to the likes of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor.

However, Kim has now received a fair amount of backlash from fans who have accused her of being obsessed with the dead.

‘Her obsessions just don’t seem right … lol like leave it alone girl … you’ll never be Marilyn or Diana .. and that’s ok ! I’ve always liked Kim K,’ said surgeonmade_curves on Instagram.

‘Why is she always playing in deceased ppls stuff ???’ asked tiathe1.

‘Her obsession with unalived people’s possessions is a little disturbing,’ added miamormimi.

In 2011, it was reported that the star bought a set of Elizabeth Taylor’s bangles for £50,230.

The jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz, reportedly offered to simply make Kim her own pair but she refused.

‘She loved those bangles for a long time,’ Schwartz told The Telegraph. ‘She bought them because they’re Elizabeth’s.’

The star faced heavy criticism in 2022 for wearing Marilyn Monroe’s famous nude-coloured dress to the Met Gala.

The reality TV star shed 16 pounds to fit into the dress after Ripley’s Believe It Or Not agreed to loan it to her for the red carpet.

She revealed that she feared damaging the iconic dress at the event and only wore it for minutes on the red carpet before changing into a replica.

‘All of this, the losing the weight, dyeing the hair for 30 hours, leaving the hotel in a robe, getting there, changing on the red carpet, just walking to the top of the red carpet, and then changing again into a replica of the dress – because we can’t risk sitting in it and eating dinner – is all for maybe 10 minutes of my life, just on the red carpet. That’s it,’ she revealed on The Kardashians.

She has also purchased a set of Elvis’s rings at auction for her brother Robert Kardashian.

For her daughter North West, she bought the fedora Michael Jackson wore in the Smooth Criminal music video for Christmas.
