The sister of a Scots mum who is feared to have been murdered in Spain said her family will continue to seek justice ‘no matter how much time passes.’
Lisa Brown, 32, was reported missing in the Costa Del Sol on November 4, 2015 after she failed to pick up her eight-year-old son Marco from school in Guadiaro, near San Roque.
Exactly nine years after she went missing her sister, Helen, has launched a renewed appeal for information as she visits Spain to remember her sister and visit her nephew.
Speaking to the Record, Helen said: “I decided to come out to Spain on the anniversary of Lisa’s disappearance this year to be with Marco and I just feel closer to Lisa when I am here.
“Marco is a grown up teenager now but it is so tough for him losing his mum at such a young age. It changed his life so much when Lisa went missing.
“One day his mum was there and the next she was gone forever so you can only imagine the impact that is going to have on a child. It is bad enough for us, but he lost his mum.
“This time of the year is so hard for us all. It seems like forever but also feels like yesterday and we will never forget that day she went missing.
“We will forever look for her no matter how much time passes and miss her every minute of every day.”
Dean Woods, who also uses the alias Simon Corner, was questioned over Lisa’s disappearance. He went on the run but was detained on a European Arrest Warrant at Heathrow Airport for ‘conspiracy to murder’ in April 2018.
Woods was extradited back to Spain but investigators were later forced to close the case due to a ‘lack of concrete proof’.
He later absconded from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire on November 19, 2022, while serving a 12 year sentence for his role in an £8m cocaine ring but was captured in Germany last year after eight years on the run.
Helen was glad to hear he has been returned to jail but worries he could be released.
She continued: “We were pleased to hear that he was brought back to jail last year.
“The longer he is in there for the better.”
Helen continues to keep in touch with the authorities in Spain and hasn’t given up hope that one day justice will be served.
She added: “The family trust the Spanish police and believe they have done everything they possibly could but it is others who need to come forward.
“We as a family believe there are a lot of people who know what happened to Lisa so all we can do is live in hope that someone will provide fresh information.
“Anyone who knows anything at all please come forward and tell the police.”
