A Dumfries church celebrated its 30th anniversary recently.

Around 100 people gathered in the Lighthouse Church on Lochside Road, to celebrate and give thanks for the church’s 30 years serving the local community.

The guests enjoyed tributes and uplifting messages from those who contributed to the church over the years, celebrating the fact that the it has helped start three new congregations in the region, as well as launch many into church ministry over the years.

Minister Sandy Jamieson-Barr, who has served as the minister since starting the church in 1994, said: “It’s been a real privilege to serve the community over the years, to have helped and serve so many, from weddings, funerals, baby blessings to the thousands of services conducted, encouraging those in their faith and commitment to God.”

After the uplifting service, many stayed to enjoy an afternoon tea served by church members.

The church meets every Sunday in the YMCA on Lochside Road, Dumfries at 11am to which all are welcome.
