On the latest instalment of Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, presenter Laura Hamilton was charged with aiding Fran and Noel in their quest to find the perfect holiday home.

The couple’s hunt unfolded within the captivating Pueblos Blancos of Andalucia, armed with a budget of £100,000 to find a two-bedroom property featuring picturesque views.

However, the initial property viewing didn’t meet expectations, prompting Noel to quickly express his dissatisfaction regarding its size and unique layout, reports the Mirror.

Fran did not hesitate to share her thoughts, remarking: “It’s too dark for me and too enclosed.”

Noel pointed out a different aspect that troubled him, saying: “The bathroom – I wouldn’t be happy with that… Having a bathroom so close to a kitchen.”

Fran then added her concerns, noting: “I think about the bedrooms if I wanted to get up in the night and go to the loo I’ve got to come all the way down here. It’s not feasible when I’m half asleep.”

Regrettably, as they continued exploring the house, they promptly realised it wasn’t their dream home.

The second viewing at a three-bedroom residence in Cutar was more promising, with both Fran and Noel appearing notably more interested.

Despite Fran mentioning a preference for a location lower down the mountain to Laura, they declared the house as one to consider.

Their optimism did not last though, as the rest of the properties shown to them did not appeal, particularly the third option which was instantaneously dismissed due to the dilapidated state of an adjacent building.

Noel remarked: “It doesn’t have the kerb appeal that I was hoping for.”

Despite deciding to inspect the interior, their excitement wasn’t kindled as they couldn’t overlook the property’s exterior.

As the house hunt concluded, the pair informed Laura of their preference for the second property, albeit hesitant due to its location.

Nonetheless, they did acknowledge that the search clarified the specific area where they wished to purchase a holiday home and remained optimistic about finding the right place in the future.

The episode failed to impress viewers, prompting scathing critiques of what had been showcased.

One displeased viewer stated: “No thank you Laura. I thought all of the properties were horrible.” (sic)

An exasperated fan exclaimed: “This week can only get better after that waste of an hour!”

Another individual expressed hope with a cutting remark: “Let’s hope they NEVER repeat this one.” (sic)

Firing off on Twitter, a viewer posted: “Well that’s the first new episode done. Let’s hope they get better,” while another critiqued bluntly: “P**s poor first episode of the new series. Must try harder.” (sic)

It comes after properties shown throughout the series have packed more of an impressive punch, with fans often impressed at the bargains the presenters manage to find.

A Place in the Sun continues weekdays on Channel 4 from 4pm.
