HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man accused in a DUI crash that killed a 16-year-old entered a guilty plea and on the morning of Nov. 4 the court accepted that plea.

A sentencing date for Samuel McCoy has been set for Dec. 16.

In October 2023, police said Samuel McCoy crashed into a vehicle Jacob Spurlock, 16, was a passenger in at the 20th Street and 8th Avenue intersection in Huntington.

The criminal complaint states McCoy, of Huntington, ran a red light at the intersection, causing the crash.

Officers say they were pursuing McCoy, who failed to pull over during a traffic stop in Wayne County.
