A popular author who was nominated for a prestigious award is set to attend a book signing in Paisley.
The Wynd Centre will be hosting an evening with international best-selling author Carolyn Jess-Cooke, best known as C.J. Cooke, on December 3.
She will be in conversation with Paisley Heritage’s Rachael Smith about her brilliant new book, The Book of Witching, recently announced as a BBC Radio 2 Book Club pick.
This will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a book signing. C.J.’s new page-turner dives into how two women who are separated by 400 years are bound by one book – the Book of Witching.
Erin was found on an idyllic beach in Fynhallow Bay, Orkney, with catastrophic burns and only one memory: her name is Nyx. But how did she get these burns and how did her boyfriend end up burned alive?
In Orkney 1594, and accused of witchcraft, Alison Balfour awaits trial. The punishment? To be burned alive.
Author C.J. Cooke said: “I am thrilled to be bringing witches home to Paisley and speaking with the wonderful champion of books, Aileen Jeffrey of the Ginger Cat Bookshop.
“My new novel The Book of Witching explores the history of witch hunting and the magical world of the medieval period and I’ll be excited to discuss my finds with audience members.”
Aileen from The Ginger Cat children’s bookshop added: “The town’s infamous reputation as a hub of witch hunts during the 16th and 17th centuries makes it a particularly poignant location for this event.
“C.J. Cooke has conducted extensive research into the lives of women accused and convicted of witchcraft during this dark period.
“Her book brings the stories of these individuals to life, shedding light on the fear, persecution, and injustice they faced.
“She is an international best-selling author with her book, The Lighthouse Witches, being adapted into a TV series.
“To have Stephen King positively review your work must just be the icing on the cake.”
