A Remembrance event will be held in East Kilbride on Sunday, November 10 to remember all those who gave their lives in both World Wars and in conflicts across the globe.
A short service will be held at 10.40am at the war memorial, off Graham Avenue, attended by local groups.
At 11am there will be the traditional two minutes’ silence and buglers from The Boys’ Brigade will sound “The Last Post” and “Reveille”.
During the laying of wreaths a piper from East Kilbride Pipe Band will play a lament. A representative of East Kilbride Parish Church will officiate at the ceremony.
Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, EK MP Joani Reid expressed pride in the military personnel and veterans in her constituency, saying: “We have a strong community of veterans and military families in East Kilbride and Strathaven, and I am incredibly proud of the contribution they’ve made and continue to make to our country.
“As we pause to honour those who served, I am more committed than ever to supporting them in Parliament.”
