Aldi is set to open three new Scottish stores just ahead of the Christmas season as part of a multi-million investment plan.
The budget German grocer is on track to becoming one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets with more than 1,020 stores across the country. Now its ramping up its expansion plans that will see it bring it open 11 new stores before the year is out.
Included on the list of areas is a new store in Castle Douglas that is set to open this week, with a second set to open in Loanhead later this month. Meanwhile, Macduff is set for a new Aldi in December.
It comes not long after Aldi marked 30 years since it opened its first Scottish store in Kilmarnock back in 1994. As of today, the German discounter has gone on to operate more than 100 stores across the country.
The new Scots stores also make up part of the retailer’s £800 million investment plan to expand its UK presence, with a long-term goal of 1,500 stores. A further 15 stores are also set for refurbishments before Christmas, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and sustainable features.
