A golden standard has been set by great sports at Plains Primary School.
Pupils were “very proud” to celebrate their gold sport award from sportscotland in recognition of their wonderful work.
This accolade was shared with the whole school community at a special assembly.
A Plains Primary spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live: “This award is the result of the school’s action plan to take sport and physical activity forward.
“The whole school community has worked closely with Vikki Atkinson from Active Schools to ensure the targets from the school plan have been meet – and that sport and physical activity is a priority.
“In helping to achieve this award, all pupils have participated in two hours of PE each week and been given the opportunity to attend a range of after-school clubs, where the focus has been on sport.
“Vikki has trained the school’s senior pupils as sports leaders and enabled them to lead active lunchtime clubs for younger pupils.
“The school has also participated in a range of sporting events and festivals organised by North Lanarkshire Council’s Active Schools team.
“Plains Primary is delighted to be one of only three Airdrie primary schools to have achieved this award and our pupils proudly displayed their gold flag at the assembly alongside school staff, Councillor Alan Beveridge and Active Schools representative Michael McChord.”
