Harlan Coben’s highly anticipated Missing You has finally been given an official release date on Netflix, and it’s coming sooner than fans might have expected.

The crime writer’s bestselling novels have already been the foundation for several successful series on the streaming platform, from the inaugural miniseries Safe in 2018 to this year’s captivating Fool Me Once.

Netflix confirmed a series based on Coben’s 2014 hit would be adapted for the screen back in January 2024 and promptly began production.

Initially announcing a 2025 release date, the streaming giant has now revealed that Missing You will premiere at the start of the year, on Wednesday, January 1.

Rosalind Eleazar, star of Slow Horses, takes on the lead role and delves into a shocking Missing Persons case as detective Kat Donovan, reports the Mirror.

An official synopsis reads: “Eleven years ago, her fiance Josh, the love of her life, vanished without a trace, and she hasn’t heard from him since.

“Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.

“Josh’s unexpected reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.”

The New Year’s Day release follows in the footsteps of this year’s Coben crime caper, Fool Me Once, which also premiered on January 1.

The star-studded cast of Missing You includes Ashley Walters, Richard Armitage, Sir Lenny Henry, Steve Pemberton, Jessica Plummer, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner and James Nesbitt.

Quay Street Productions, a subsidiary of ITV Studios, is behind the production with Coben serving as an executive producer.
