A teenager was seriously injured after being struck by a taxi in Rutherglen on Tuesday afternoon.

Road policing officers are appealing for information following the incident that left the 16-year-old youth being taken to hospital.

The incident happened on Main Street in the town around 4.10pm on Tuesday, November 5.

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

A 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.

The road was closed until around 8.15pm to allow for an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, Road Policing Motherwell said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information which could help to get in touch.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage from the area to let us know.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2428 of 5 November, 2024.”
