Sweet potatoes boast a sweeter flavour and softer texture, making them a perfect way to change up your standard baked potato.
They boast a sweeter flavour and softer texture, making them ideal for pairing with robust flavours such as cottage cheese, sour cream, and fresh herbs.
Sweet potatoes are packed with nutritional benefits, though they’re prepared differently. Unlike white potato varieties, sweet potatoes bake differently and cook much quicker, particularly in an air fryer.
Home chef Jessica, the creator of Jessica in the Kitchen blog, has revealed her quick recipe for crispy baked sweet potatoes. As reports reports the Express, she describes them as “super sweet, tender and perfect for topping with all your favourite baked potato fixings”.
According to Jessica, these spuds take “half the time” compared to traditional baked potatoes and can be ready in just 30 minutes. The recipe doesn’t require any elaborate cooking gear or extensive ingredients.
Achieving potatoes with a crispy skin and fluffy inside is simple with just sea salt and oil. You’ll also need a pastry brush and a fork, along with your trusty air fryer, of course.
Air fryer baked sweet potatoes recipe
Ingredients
- Two sweet potatoes
- 1-3 tsp oil
- A generous sprinkling of sea salt flakes
Method
- Start by thoroughly washing, cleaning, and drying your sweet potatoes to ensure the crispiest outcome. Next, pierce the potatoes multiple times with a fork to let steam escape, then place them in a bowl.
- Coat your sweet potatoes with oil using your hands or a silicone brush, followed by a liberal dusting of salt.
- Move the seasoned potatoes into the air fryer basket and cook at 200C for a duration of 30 to 35 minutes. Once cooked, cautiously take out the spuds from the air fryer basket and make a slice in the centre.
- Use your fork to fluff up the inside slightly. Add a dollop of butter if desired, then serve with your chosen toppings.
