Liverpool have made an approach to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to reports.
Tchouameni is currently in his third season at Madrid following his move from Monaco in a €100 million (£85.3m) deal in June 2022.
The 24-year-old has already played 104 games for Madrid and has helped the club win seven trophies, including La Liga and the Champions League last season.
However, the France international has come under fire for his performances this season and was even whistled by Madrid supporters at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday evening during the team’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Madrid are open to selling Tchouameni and Liverpool have been in contact with the midfielder’s representatives to gauge his interest in a move to Anfield.
It’s claimed that Madrid would look for €60m (£50m) to sell Tchouameni and have made Manchester City’s Rodri their top choice to replace him in midfield.
Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, who cost £106.8m from Benfica last year, is also on Madrid’s midfield shortlist.
Tchouameni suffered an ankle injury during Madrid’s loss to Milan on Tuesday night and is expected to miss his side’s match against Liverpool in the Champions League later this month.
Elsewhere, Marca reports that Madrid are stepping up their push to sign a new right-back in January following the team’s defeats to Barcelona and Milan.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is Madrid’s first-choice target.
Madrid are currently forced to use Lucas Vazquez, primarily an attacking winger, at right-back following Dani Carvajal’s knee injury which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.
