These are the reasons I voted for Donald Trump

Brooklyn: This election reminds me of the Reagan-Carter election of 1980: It was supposed to be close; Ronald Reagan won in a landslide. He did so because he ran against the worst president ever at that time. The new worst, President Biden, is a figurehead and Trojan horse of the progressive left.

Inflation thanks to excessive government debt spending ($36 trillion national debt) increased to 9%. It is down to 2.5%, higher than under Donald Trump. Prices have not come down to pre-Biden levels. Americans’ personal debt — used to battle inflation — is at an all-time high. Americans still feel the pain.

My greatest concern is the invasion and infiltration of our country. We live in fear of going to Manhattan, or whatever our favorite city would be. Jocelyn Nungaray was raped and killed by illegal immigrants. Laken Riley was raped and killed by an illegal immigrant. This is the country your children and grandchildren will inherit. Criminals released with no bail to commit crimes again, because like a tarantula, it’s what they do. Equally important, our national security is at stake. Enemy foreign countries do not fear us, and they create whatever acts of aggression they please. Biden, an angry old man, feels he has no need to talk to Vladimir Putin, so the war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Good presidents would have initiated diplomacy, putting aside personal animosities for the good of Ukraine and humanity. The Biden administration has failed at foreign leadership, and Kamala Harris can’t see anything she would do differently.

On Tuesday, I voted for Trump to the second term he so justly deserves, and who the American people so desperately need. David DiBello

More of the same?

Kew Gardens: Well, the election is finally over and now we’ll see if the new administration follows the traditional path. I first voted in the late 1960s and began noticing a distinct pattern. If the Republicans won, they gave all the money to the rich, as did Reagan, Bush father and son, and Trump. When the Democrats won, all the money went to the poor and social services. The working classes never saw their lives improve. What will the MAGA’s say four years from now when they are no further along? Who will they blame then? I’ve said it before and it bears repeating: The two most destructive organizations in today’s America are politicians and fundamentalist religion. Jeff Pullen

Love lost

Hauppauge, L.I.: I really didn’t think all that hate would win. Greg Arnold

Backlash

Ormond Beach, Fla.: The second election of Trump as president of the United States is the natural result of the left’s highly politically correct, anti-white, anti-male and anti-America rhetoric. It turns out that if you demonize the people you disagree with, paint them as racists and oppressors and tell them that any and all of their successes are a result of some unearned privilege, they will create a counterrevolution. He is the consequence of their actions, their rhetoric and the identity politics that they have brought into the American political landscape. Progressive liberals, you have made your bed. Now, lie in it. Charles Michael Sitero

Prepare for impact

Manhattan: Despite being part of the most successful administration in memory, despite running against a convicted felon, rapist, philanderer, liar and failed businessman, Harris lost. Was it because she is a Black woman? What part did men refusing to elect a woman play? Hard questions to answer or talk about. Now, America will pay for its sins. The MAGA party controls all three branches of government. Women will continue to die because of the lack of needed medical care. We will see costs rise, the stock market fall, the deficit increase, rights taken away and minority communities suffer from white supremacy. Climate change will continue to ravage our towns and disruptions and chaos will prevail. Cowardice succumbed to grievance; reality succumbed to lies and distortion; hunger for power prevailed and the rule of law failed. The question now is will New York State send him to jail? Andre Carl Jones

Course corrected

Brooklyn: My cheeks hurt. So glad we’ll get back to running America as the world power that it needs to return to instead of fretting over bathrooms and pronouns. We’re ready for a woman to be president, just not this woman. God bless America and President Trump and his family. Joe Many

Lessons to be learned

Manhattan: This election wasn’t even close. Trump gained ground everywhere. He almost won New Jersey. It’s a profound humiliation and catastrophic defeat for Democrats. They need to self-reflect. A lot of things they’re selling, almost no one is buying. What is the lesson for Democrats? The “woke stuff” was never going to stick outside of Brooklyn and San Francisco. There is a perception that Democrats have gone too far left on some cultural issues. Trump ran an ad stating: “Harris is for they/them. Trump is for you.” I don’t think anyone particularly needs the term “Latinx.” Democrats have to acknowledge that they must change course or risk losing the White House for a generation. Trump cobbled together a coalition of working-class voters across racial/ethnic groups that represents a durable majority if it sticks. Daniel Dolgicer

Time to unite

Malverne, L.I.: As I write this, Trump has captured a possible 312 electoral votes and more than 70 million popular votes, almost 5 million more than Harris, decisively giving him the White House, and he will be the 47th president of the U.S. It seems that all the lies about him by legacy media and Democrats have fallen on deaf ears, as people saw through it. So, let us now stop with the rhetoric and false narratives about MAGA and Trump and bring this country together so we can be stronger and greater than we’ve been. Dave Kalin

Funky numbers

Yorktown Heights, N.Y.: Is the guy who does the calculations of election polls the same guy who’s in charge of analytics for the Chicago White Sox? Anthony Vegliante

Tax dodging

Merion Station, Pa.: Now that the election is over I’m returning to the workforce, as it won’t affect my Social Security check, which will no longer be taxed. My only question is whether to start working for tips, which won’t be taxed, or take a 40-hour-a-week job where my overtime won’t be taxed. Paul L. Newman

Prophetic return

Woodland Park, N.J.: Despite all the disparaging articles and opinions of Trump by your readers and the media, he still won the presidency. It’s been said that God works in strange ways, and throughout the Bible, it has been shown that He loves a sinner — the worst kind, the better. Just look at the example of David, an adulterer and murderer, yet God appointed him king of the land of Israel and called him a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13-14; Acts 13-22). Seems to me that Trump could be the modern-day David. Melanie Noonan

Lethal holding pattern

Swarthmore, Pa.: Everyone agrees that Israel has a right, even an obligation, to defend its borders and ward off and degrade the military capability of its enemies, including terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. But it now must be asked, when is enough enough? When does the property destruction that’s reduced most of Gaza to rubble and inflicted unimaginable horror, suffering and casualties to the people who live there, go from what can be considered a reasonable retaliation to a cruel and beyond-the-pale response? The question that needs to be addressed is whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is continuing the hostilities not to defend his country but to fend off his myriad legal worries that, if prosecuted, could land him in prison. It now feels like Netanyahu is more concerned with using his continuing military response to keep himself in power and postpone the inevitable day of reckoning he faces. Ken Derow

Design flaw

Middle Village: I paid $177.90 for three new trash cans on Aug. 29 to comply with the Nov. 12 deadline. They arrived, however, the one for the trash has at best a flimsy plastic clip that any rodent would be able chew through. Liz Wildner Smith
