A Rutherglen school is inviting local families and businesses to come along and visit its biggest ever Christmas fayre this month.

Burnside Primary School in Glenlui Avenue is holding the annual event on Saturday, November 23 and it promises to be filled with festive cheer, with a guaranteed appearance by Santa himself.

There will also be a range of stalls, games and home baking on offer, with something for everyone.

The event is the flagship annual fundraiser for the school’s parent council and draws huge support from local businesses. This year’s raffle already has top prizes donated by The Performance Academy, Rutherglen Lawn Tennis Club and Luciano’s restaurant.

The event is the first Christmas fayre for the school’s new headteacher, Gayle McDonald.

Ms McDonald said: “We can’t wait to turn the school into a winter wonderland and welcome everyone through our doors on November 23.

“It’s a brilliant chance to support the school and get into the festive spirit at the same time.”

Funds raised at the event go to Burnside Primary’s parent council, which is a registered charity.

Lyndsey Shakespeare, chair of the parent council, said: “The Christmas fayre helps to raise vital funds to give the kids extra opportunities like school trips, the school library, and lunchtime clubs such as our gardening club with Grow 73.

“There’s always a great atmosphere and we’d encourage everyone to come along and join in the festive fun.”

The fayre will run from 11am to 2pm. Entry is £3 on the day (kids are free) and any businesses that would like a stall, or wants to support the raffle can contact the school at: [email protected]
