Scott Brown has ordered a reaction from his misfiring Ayr side as they prepare for their latest telly date.

United are under the live BBC spotlight again tomorrow night when they travel to Morton. Brown wants no repeat of the limp display at Raith which saw Ayr well beaten last Friday night.

And he’s left his squad in no doubt that better is expected in Greenock.

Brown told the Ayrshire Post: “Nobody has a right to play in that team after Friday’s performance. We were slow and took no real risks anywhere and players didn’t want to take responsibility on the ball.

“That needs to be better and we need a reaction – simple as that. Morton are in the same boat after their defeat at the weekend and it’s going to be a game where two teams are coming with something to prove.”

‘Ton boss Dougie Imrie has pledged to get his side well up for it following their 6-0 thrashing at Falkirk. And Brown knows it’s a game laced with danger if his team aren’t prepared for the backlash.

He said: “They’re going to come at us but we will have that same mentality. Positions are up for grabs in our team and we’ll base a lot of it on training this week.

“Lads can force themselves into the team and it’s an opportunity now for those who have been sitting on the side waiting their chance.”
