South Lanarkshire scooter clubs are joining forces for a Ride of Remembrance this weekend.
Incognito, a new East Kilbride-based club, will be linking up with Cambuslang scooter enthusiasts High Numbers for their annual convoy in aid of Veterans charity Erskine Hospital.
The event this Saturday, November 9, is set to be a real spectacle with over 40 riders taking part.
Incognito member Alastair McMillan said: “We’re a fairly new scooter group from East Kilbride who will be joining up with High Numbers in Cambuslang for their annual Remembrance Ride on Saturday.
“We will then be heading back to East Kilbride cenotaph on Sunday afternoon as most of our members are based in East Kilbride.
“We only started the club in March this year as there were so many scooter enthusiasts here in East Kilbride who were members of other clubs. We now have around 300 members.
“This weekend is just to mark Remembrance Day and collect for the Veterans charity and will be a spectacle for people with over 40 members taking part.”
The route will see High Numbers leave from The Black Bull in Cambuslang arriving at The Leeburn in East Kilbride to meet with Incognito to visit the East Kilbride war memorial on Graham Avenue at 11.20am.
It will then be on to Cambuslang Cenotaph, visiting Rutherglen Cenotaph, Bridgeton war memorial at Glasgow Green, Alexander Park war memorial, RHF monument at Glasgow Cathedral and finishing off at the Cenotaph in Glasgow’s George Square.
All scooterists are welcome to join the clubs as they pay their respects and anyone wishing to lay a cross or wreath at the memorials are welcome to do so.
Each scooterist taking part is donating a minimum of £5 to this year’s chosen charity.
Incognito will then lead another ride to East Kilbride cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, November 10.
Meeting at The Leeburn at 10.30am they will proceed to The Cameronians Memorial in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park for 11am before returning to East Kilbride war memorial via a stop off at Auchentibber Memorial.
