Tom Sparrow reckons joint-fourth in the Premiership is a good position for Motherwell, especially considering the number of key injuries they have.
And the Welsh Under-21 international reckons they will only get better once everybody’s back fit and available.
Sparrow, who in June signed a two-year deal at Fir Park, feels that he has finally broken into the first-team, having played the last three games in a row, and hopes to keep that going when St Johnstone visit in the Premiership tomorrow.
He said: “There’s probably more to come from us, which can only be a good thing.
“The injuries is a big thing. You look at the team and the squad from the weekend, and there are a lot of lads missing who would have played a big part in that.
“But we’re fourth in the table with them missing, so the other lads have done really well, and it’s part of football.
“When everybody’s back and fit, hopefully we’ll kick on even further.”
Sparrow says it’s important for Motherwell not to suffer a Hampden hangover from their 2-1 Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat against Rangers.
“We’re disappointed but we’ve put it to bed and we’ve got an important game on Saturday to focus on, so everybody’s ready for that,” he said.
“You’d rather play at Hampden than some other places, with lots of fans, a great pitch and all the other stuff.
“Games like that are what you want to play football for, so it’s brilliant.
“Straight after the game we said we didn’t want a hangover from this.
“We’ve made a good start, and hopefully we can just carry that on, going into Saturday, and then it will be put to bed.
“It’s good to have a home game. We’ve been good here, and that will definitely help as well”
Sparrow, who spent time on loan at Hamilton Accies from Stoke City two season ago, feels he’s making an impact at Motherwell.
He said: “I feel settled now and I’ve got a couple of starts, so hopefully there will be some more.
“Everyone has been brilliant. I just want to kick on and keep improving.
“It has been a good week for me and lots of minutes. Now I’m properly up to speed, and good opposition is only going to make you better.”
