Stars of British Championship Wrestling return to the ring at the under-threat Ballerup Hall in East Kilbride next month for a star-studded show.

With the Civic Centre up for sale, BCW’s Saturday, December 7 show could be one of the last chances to see some of the biggest names on the scene right now perform in East Kilbride.

The popular community entertainment venue, which has hosted large events in the town since 1966, is included in the sale of East Kilbride Civic Centre – the latest development in the bold new masterplan for EK town centre which includes the creation of around 400 new homes.

BCW has hired out the venue for 21 years and entertained hundreds of local fans at 86 shows.

Boss Graham McKay told Lanarkshire Live last week the hall’s closure would spell “the end of wrestling in East Kilbride“.

He said: “We are uncertain about the future of wrestling events in East Kilbride in the future due to the sale of the building which has upset the whole BCW roster deeply. It does look East Kilbride could be losing wrestling at some point in 2025/6.

“But for as long as we are still running shows in East Kilbride we will be proving why you simply cannot miss the chance to see BCW live.

“The performers are always buzzing to return to East Kilbride and many of them who perform all over the UK still say the East Kilbride fans are right up there as the best in Scotland.

“We have been bringing shows like this to East Kilbride for 21 years now. In fact the Ballerup Hall was the venue where we put on our very first BCW show, so this venue has a lot of sentimental value to us.”

Over two decades BCW have brought some of the biggest names in wrestling to town including Matt Hardy, Chavo Guerrero, Vader, Eugene, Hardcore Holly and many more.

WWE stars including Drew Galloway, Sheamus, Wolfgang, Kay Lee Ray and Noam Dar started their careers at the Lanarkshire company.

The December show line-up includes BCW heavyweight champion Daz Black, The Aggression, Angel Hayze, Krieger, Kasey Owens, CJ Banks and Che Monet.

Graham added: “As mentioned before many a superstar that started off in BCW have now went on to WWE in America and we know that WWE do currently have there eyes on one or two BCW superstars who you will see in December.

“This is why I urge fans to get along to these shows and support local wrestling events as you never know who you may be watching on the TV in years to come. And at East Kilbride you don’t just get to watch them wrestle, you get to meet them, chat with them and get a photo with them – all that for as little as £10 a ticket.

“At WWE’s last event in Glasgow some tickets were on sale for as much as £3000 which is crazy as half of the shows featured Scottish stars that used to perform at the Ballerup Hall.”

Doors open 6.30pm with the first bell at 7pm.

Tickets are priced £12.50 or four for £40. To purchase visit www.ringsideworld.co.uk
