When mum-of-three Jaime Wystub turned up to Montana airport with her husband Matt, she expected to be getting on a plane to Austin, Texas.
Instead, Jaime was left at the gate after being denied boarding. Why? Her husband got her birthday wrong when he made the booking.
But what caused most outrage on TikTok was the fact that Matt still boarded the plane without her — leaving her behind.
In a viral video with 6.5 million views, Jaime films herself at the gate, then flips the camera to pan across a plane, and her husband, taxiing away without her.
‘At the airport, guess where my husband is? He’s on that flight,’ she said. ‘Guess where I’m not. Ask me why not. He got my birthday wrong.’
Women in the comments were not impressed with Matt’s actions, with some commenting: ‘I hope there’s an ex-husband update.’
Another said: ‘It’s not only the fact that he got the DOB wrong. Why would he get on the plane?’
‘Divorce immediately,’ wrote another. Jaime explained that her husband was travelling for fireman training, so he couldn’t miss the flight.
That’s apparently the only reason he boarded without her, leaving her to fend for herself at the airport in Montana and make her own way to Texas. And this turned out to be a ‘trip from hell’.
Jaime got the next flight to Dallas and her husband made the three-hour drive to pick her up. Then they drove back to Austin together.
While the couple weren’t travelling for a romantic holiday, others still weren’t convinced by Matt’s behaviour, with one anonymous user saying: ‘There’s zero chance my boyfriend would have left without me, even if I told him to.’
Jaime responded in another TikTok, saying: ‘It’s not like he just left me. He had to go. Life happens, it’s totally fine and not a big deal.’
The general consensus was that it was simply unacceptable for her husband to not know her birthday, which people insisted was ‘a big deal’.
TikToker @mrs.Mcfly said: ‘I just went to Hawaii with my husband and our two little kids and he booked all the flights, never asked once for any of our birthdays.
‘I didn’t even know they asked for your birthday. I genuinely got so lucky because that is inexcusable. He’s your husband and he couldn’t remember your birthday?’
However some supporters of Jaime’s relationship agreed that sometimes, accidents happen.
‘Please ignore the comments, people swear up and down they wouldn’t accept certain crap on the internet but are accepting way less in real life,’ wrote @Ferns.
Another wrote: ‘It’s genuinely crazy how much people assume about someone else’s relationship with the tiniest bit of context. Dude probably just made an honest mistake.’
‘These comments aren’t it girlie. Y’all are adorable and this is such a funny little mistake. Y’all will be talking about it for years I’m sure,’ added another.
How mad would you be if your partner got your birthday wrong?
