Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay opened up about the challenging times he experienced missing significant moments in his children’s lives.
The Kitchen Nightmares star, who celebrates his 58th birthday today, is a father-of-six with his wife Tana Ramsay whom he wed in 1996.
Together the couple share Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 24, Tilly, 22, five year old Oscar, and nearly one-year-old Jesse. Before welcoming the younger members of his family, Ramsay showed empathy on MasterChef when a contestant lamented her absence from her son’s first day of school, the Express reports.
Acknowledging her feelings, the famous chef shared his own sacrifices made for success saying: “Chloe, everybody needs to sacrifice to get to the top. That’s life. This competition’s a phenomenon.”
He added: “The rewards at the top are extraordinary. I can give you 25 examples of what I’ve missed with my four kids over the last 10 years. And it kills me.
“But you get to a certain level of success in life, and there’s a price to pay for that. So park that and continue on that journey,” Ramsay advised.
Ramsay and his wife Tana, 50, recently celebrated the arrival of their sixth child and expressed pure joy on social media declaring the Ramsay clan complete.
Revealing the happy news on Instagram, the proud father exclaimed: “What an amazing birthday present please welcome Jesse James Ramsay, 7lbs 10oz whopper! ! One more bundle of love to the Ramsay brigade! ! 3 boys, 3 girls… Done.”
Tana Ramsay has opened up about her difficult pregnancy journey on her social media, following the miscarriage of their son Rocky at five months in 2016.
She expressed her relief and joy, saying: “It’s been a nerve wracking 9 months but we’ve made it and we have been blessed with this little bundle.”
Confident that their family is now complete, she confirmed: “Ramsay family definitely complete. Jesse James Ramsay we love you so much.” Gordon also shared his personal reflections on the loss of Rocky, describing the profound impact it had on the family.
He said: “Losing Rocky was really tough, and then just being there and watching the trauma unfold, it’s just this life-changing moment,” in a heartfelt admission to People magazine in 2023.
