Perth traffic disruption is ongoing due to emergency gas repair works.

In recent days Glasgow Road has been temporarily closed between Aldi, Whitefriars Crescent and Elibank Street with diversions in place.

Ongoing resurfacing work was also taking place at Glasgow Road at Lamberkine Drive.

And further works, for resurfacing, are set to start on Dunkeld Road from this Monday, November 11.

Gas distribution company SGN had opened one lane of Glasgow Road earlier this week which remained the situation today (Thursday November 7).

A spokesperson for SGN said of the Glasgow Road works: “We’re making good progress with emergency repairs in Glasgow Road.

“This has allowed us to reopen Glasgow Road both ways outside Aldi Food Store, between Whitefriars Crescent and Elibank Street.

“However, a one-lane restriction is now in place at this location to allow repairs to be fully completed.

“It’s too early to say at this stage how long this will take.

“We’d like to thank the Perth community for your ongoing patience and support.”

Perth and Kinross Council had warned of “significant disruption” to local bus services and inter city coach services that operate along Glasgow Road and in the residential areas of Letham, Oakbank and Burghmuir during the closure.

Further Perth city roadworks are set to start from this Monday November 11 for two weeks on the A912 Dunkeld Road for essential carriageway resurfacing near Cameron’s Volkswagen car dealership and between Florence Place and the Crieff Road roundabout.

A PKC spokesperson said of these works: “We appreciate your patience during this project and will work to keep disruption to a minimum.

“Motorists should expect delays and are advised to allow extra time for travel in this area of Perth.”
