To decide the winners, the chippies were assessed by a panel of experts that included award-winning cook Aldo Zilli. The nominees also went through a public vote.

Organiser Warren Paul commented: “Each year we celebrate the very best in what has always been the classic takeaway – fish and chips. We bring together entrants from all over Scotland showcasing people who are really trying to offer quality – using great ingredients and really going the extra mile to give the very best food to their customers.

“We look at fish and chip shops in tiny villages and big cities and send judges to every single one that enters – whether that’s two minutes from the office or on an island hours away by ferry. We have strict criteria across all judging to ensure it is fair and consistent, so we’re confident our winners really are doing it better than anyone else.

“A win or highly recommended nod from us is a seal of approval you can trust – there’s a reason our winners are so successful every year after the awards. Try for yourself and let us know what you think.”
