A cringe-worthy video has captured the awkward moment a bride and groom entered their wedding reception to find it virtually deserted. Kalina Marie and her partner Shane were met with an almost empty hall instead of the bustling crowd they had anticipated for their big day.
The couple, accompanied by their son, walked into the lavishly decorated yet eerily quiet venue as Miley Cyrus’ “When I Look at You” played poignantly in the background, with the lyrics “When my world is falling apart” underscoring the stark absence of attendees. Despite the setback, the pair maintained composure, celebrating with the few who did turn up.
The devastated bride took to TikTok to share the footage, which has since racked up over seven million views. In her post, Marie from Oregon expressed her disbelief: “This is our entrance to our Masquerade ball,” she wrote.
“The Masquerade ball that I have talked excessively about for the last 10 months. The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But also spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to.”
She continued, revealing the extent of the no-show: “FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP! ! ! ! ! ! ! Like, are you kidding me! ? ! ? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mum messaged me at 1:15pm that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2 o’clock, to five people, in a venue planned for 40.”, reports the Mirror.
Maire shared her heartbreak after she was left with dozens of empty seats at her wedding reception. She had dreamed of a venue full of guests “hooting and hollering” for the newlyweds, but instead faced a sea of vacant chairs.
The bride lamented over the wasted food and drinks, and the adjustments they had to make due to the no-shows. Despite this, the couple refused to let it ruin their day, sharing clips of them dancing with the few attendees and their first dance as husband and wife.

Marie questioned why they were treated this way, asking if they were such terrible people that their supposed friends couldn’t even bother to show up or send a message. Her story sparked a flurry of comments on TikTok, with users questioning if there was another side to the story.
A week later, the couple admitted they were still dealing with embarrassment and anger from the incident, with Marie stating she wouldn’t wish this experience on her worst enemy.
