In her most relatable move yet, Margot Robbie has admitted she used to listen to the Titanic soundtrack to tear up on the set of The Wolf of Wall Street.

The 2013 movie – in which the 34-year-old actor starred opposite Jack Dawson actor Leonardo DiCaprio -featured plenty of raunchy, volatile, and emotional scenes between the onscreen husband and wife.

Since the movie demanded Margot’s character, Naomi Lapaglia, start crying during one scene the Barbie star did what any rational person would do.

The Hollywood star listened to the soundtrack of one of the most heartwrenching movies of all time – James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic.

Who among us hasn’t shed a tear to Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On while watching Jack and Rose’s (Kate Winslet) doomed love story play out as the infamous vessel plunged into icy waters?

Although, as the Aussie actor revealed, the situation became all the more ‘surreal’ when Kate visited Leo on set and the pair pretty much caught Margot in the act.

‘I can even just hear the theme music of Titanic, and I’ll be bawling. And so that’s what I do on set if I need to cry in a scene,’ she explained.

She then recounted the crazy moment when two worlds collided in an upcoming episode of the Talking Pictures: A Movie Memories Podcast, per Variety.

‘On Wolf of Wall Street, there was the big, crazy scene after I ask for a divorce and stuff. And Kate Winslet came to visit set, to visit Leo [DiCaprio] that day,’ Margot shared.

She continued: ‘I was in the room next to them, listening to the Titanic soundtrack trying to stay in sad, teary mode. And then I saw Kate Winslet and Leo walk past. It was very surreal.’

Whatever the technique, it worked as her role in Wolf of Wall Street secured her spot into the limelight and fully launched her lucrative Hollywood career.

Nowadays the Oscar-nominated actor is used to using unique and strange methods to connect with her characters.

In 2023, she opened up about the struggle she went through trying to tap into the Barbie mindset.

‘It was so weird prepping Barbie as a character. It was almost like all of my usual tools didn’t apply for this character.’ Margot told Variety at the time.

She continued ‘I work with an acting coach, and I work with a dialect coach, and I work with a movement coach, and I read everything, and I do all these things.’

And even tried her hand at ‘animal exercises’ which is exactly what it says on the tin.

‘I was maybe 45 minutes into pretending to be a flamingo or whatever, and I was suddenly like, “It’s not working. The animal isn’t helping me with Barbie. I don’t know how to find her.”‘

When she wasn’t even able to create some fake childhood memories because Babrie ‘was invented out of a vacuum’ she turned to director Greta Gerwig who showed her a podcast about a woman who couldn’t introspect.

Eventually, Margot found her way in and Barbie became a billion-dollar box office success.

The screenstar recently became a first-time mum with her husband Tom Ackerley as they welcomed a baby boy into the world.

But she is already gearing up to return to the big screen with her next project, Wuthering Heights, alongside director Emerald Fennell and co-star Jacob Elordi.
