CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The WVSSAC volleyball state tournament started with Class AA action Tuesday, with James Monroe and Wyoming East in action.

The No. 4 seed James Monroe Lady Mavericks took on No to start the day No. 5 seed Buffalo Lady Bison. The Lady Mavs would take a dominant first set (25-19), before the Lady Bison would take the lead 2-1 (27-25,25-14), before James Monroe responded in the fourth (25-20). However, after James Monroe got out to a 10-6 lead in the fifth, Buffalo would storm back to win on a 9-0 run (15-10). James Monroe loses in five sets.

At 1:30 p.m., the No. 7 Wyoming East Lady Warriors took on state runners-up from 2023 No. 2 seed Philip Barbour Lady Colts. It was the first state tournament game in program history for Wyoming East. Despite a strong start to the first set, Wyoming East would fall in straight sets (25-21, 25-14,25-11).
