A Scots rugby club has urged dog walkers using a route near the ground to be vigilant after a number of dogs became stuck in mud on the banks of a river.
Stirling County RFC issued the call to pet owners who use the club’s Bridgehaugh base as part of their walking route to take care.
The ground sits in the shadow of the iconic Wallace Monument and is just a short distance from the River Forth – as it winds its way through the city.

The club has pleaded for dog walkers to make sure that their beloved pets are on a lead when walking around the ground.
The club said there had been numerous occasions of dogs, off the lead, heading down towards the River Forth where they had become trapped in thick mud on the river’s banks.
Pleading with dog owners on the club’s Facebook page, they said: “We kindly ask all dog owners who walk their dog at Bridgehaugh to please keep your dog on a lead. There’s been instances of dogs off leash heading down to the river bank and getting stuck in the mud.
“We’d hate for any pups to get stuck or lost, so make sure you’re keeping a close eye on them.”
