Wednesday fans have an intriguing prediction about Lady Gaga’s role in season 2 as she joins the star-studded cast helmed by Jenna Ortega.

Yesterday, it was revealed the Poker Face singer, 38, would make an appearance in the coming-of-age thriller in an undisclosed part thought to be a cameo.

As Netflix are keeping the exact nature of the Telephone hitmaker’s role underwraps, the internet has gone wild with theories about who she could be playing in the Tim Burton megahit.

On Reddit, user MuptonBossman shared their two cents and said they believed Lady Gaga had been cast as Cousin It so would not be visible under the character’s full-length blonde hair and hat costume.

They wrote: ‘Plot Twist – She’s going to play Cousin It and nobody will know it’s her.’

However Lizzie888 had another theory: ‘This is giving me flashbacks to when she was announced in American Horror Story. I feel like we’re all expecting a dark, countess-like character but I hope she does something super unexpected.

‘Also hope this makes disease go viral as it’s been paid dust so far and it’s her best single since applause imo.’

LyleLansleysMonorail hoped Lady Gaga’s role would see her interact with Jenna’s Wednesday: ‘Is she gonna do the Wednesday dance to her own song?’

Lady Gaga’s casting announcement comes after the trailer for Wednesday season 2 dropped.

The teaser showed the follow-up will take place at Nevermore Academy, with the instantly recognisable purple and black striped uniforms appearing throughout.

Shots also confirmed the returns of Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, and Luis Guzman as Gomez, with Tim Burton also down to direct four more episodes of the series.

When it debuted on Netflix in 2022, Wednesday quickly became the second-most watched English language show in the history of the streaming platform.

It also performed well at awards ceremonies, with Jenna receiving several acting nominations while the series itself was recognised in both horror and fantasy categories.

The show follows Wednesday Addams as she’s enrolled at Nevermore Academy – a private school for outcast children with supernatural powers – by her parents Morticia and Gomez.

Wednesday season 2 will be coming to Netflix three years after the first landed. It was likely delayed by the writers’ striker and means that 2025 will be a huge year for the streamer,  with Stranger Things also coming to an end next year.

Fans of the sci-fi phenomenon got a glimpse onto the set of their favourite series over the summer, with actors Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp seen riding bicycles on set.

Also affected by the writers’ strike, Stranger Things’ fifth and final outing was also significantly delayed, with the last eight episodes expected to debut some time next year.
