Penny Lancaster has opened up about the secret behind her enduring love story with rock legend Rod Stewart on today’s episode of Loose Women. The panel, which featured Kelly Brook, Myleene Klass and host Charlene White, delved into discussions about romance and the quest for love, questioning their own romantic natures.
It was during this heart-to-heart that Penny shared the key to maintaining her spark with Rod, whom she wed in 2007, with nearly two decades of togetherness under their belt.
Revealing the essence of her successful relationship with Rod, Penny explained: “It’s just paying attention to detail. It’s understanding somebody and their needs and what they like and showing up for them and what brought you together in the beginning. I know life gets really busy but it’s those little tiny glimmers.”
She added a personal touch by sharing: “Sometimes I look across the crowded room at him. He did write a song for me. We’re still very much in love.”
Myleene Klass chimed in with her observations of the couple’s palpable affection, recalling an occasion when she witnessed their chemistry firsthand: “I sat at a table with you guys and you only have eyes for each other. They’re like school kids, they’re adorable!” Her comments were echoed by the rest of the panel who commended Penny and Rod’s long-lasting love affair, reports the Mirror.
The conversation comes after rumours earlier this year suggested that Penny and Rod’s marriage had hit a rough patch, with speculation about a “stalemate” concerning their Beverly Hills home.
In a heartfelt statement, Rod clarified: “There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I, and no disagreement on where we should reside, in fact it’s the opposite. We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit.
“Originally we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there. Penny and I could not be more in love with each other after 27 glorious years. Please trust me on this… there’s no disharmony in our marriage.”
Rod went on to describe himself as a “very lucky man” to be married to Penny, lauding their strong bond.
