Wynne Evans has provided an update after withdrawing from his scheduled appearance on Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two interview on Wednesday evening.

Last night (13 November), fans were anticipating Wynne, 52, and his dance partner Katya Jones to feature on the spin-off show. However, shortly after the show began, presenter Janette Manrara announced to viewers that this would not be happening.

Despite assurances from Fleur East that Wynne was set to be on It Takes Two that Wednesday, circumstances evidently changed at the last minute.

Janette explained: “If you’ve got any questions like, ‘Why are Chris and Dianne on when yesterday we said it was going to be Wynne and Katya?’ It’s live TV, guys. You’ve got to roll with it, alright? Just roll with it.”

Later that Wednesday night, Wynne took to Instagram to post a photo from Blackpool, signalling his presence in the city ahead of Strictly’s upcoming special at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. He captioned the image with “we’re in town” and tagged both Strictly and Katya, who then shared the Story on her own Instagram profile, reports Wales Online.

During Sunday’s episode, Wynne faced the dance-off for the first time, competing against Shayne Ward. The judges appeared to be split over who deserved to stay in the competition.

Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to keep Shayne in the competition, while Anton Du Beke cast his vote for Wynne. The deciding vote was left to head judge Shirley Ballas, who ultimately opted to save Wynne and Katya, thus concluding Shayne’s journey on the show with his professional partner Nancy Xu.

Reflecting on his experience, Shayne expressed: “I just want to say, you guys up there [the other contestants] are a dream. Every single day, coming in here and seeing you guys you helped me so much.”

He also extended his gratitude to the audience, saying: “I want to say thank you to the audience as well for always being amazing for us all. This has been, honestly, one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 16 November at 6:45pm for a special evening from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom with the results show airing the next day on Sunday 17 November at 7:20pm on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
