Married at First Sight UK viewers were left open-mouthed by the events of the penultimate episode, which saw a groom doused in a drink and two brides embroiled in a shouting match.
The episode, which aired last night (November 13), featured the couples’ final dinner party. While some duos remained solid, others had split from their former partners and found it challenging to face them again for the first time since the experiment concluded.
Bride Hannah Norburn’s arrival with another husband, Ryan Livesey, stirred up trouble at the reunion and led to another heated dispute with fellow bride Holly Ditchfield. The pair previously clashed earlier in the series during a girls’ night before vow renewals, sparking hundreds of Ofcom complaints.
In the midst of the first reunion episode’s drama, viewers watched fan favourite Kristina Goodsell reunite with her ex Kieran Chapman. In heart-wrenching scenes, Kristina became emotional as she confessed to her former spouse about her struggles with their separation before walking out, followed by the other brides.
Later at the dinner table, Kieran disclosed he had been in a two-week relationship with someone else since the experiment, causing more tears from his ex, reports the Mirror.
Before the scenes were broadcast, Kristina made an urgent appeal to viewers on social media, who have been outspoken online about their feelings towards the cast throughout the series.
“Please please tonight is tough, emotions are high, Kieran Chapman is just as emotional and his feelings do matter and his feeling and thoughts are valid,” she said. “We are only human and all on our own individual journey. Please please please if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it or comment.
“Not only does Kieran not deserve it I have been feeling very overwhelmed and sad reading them and we are both taking things personally which we do not deserve.”
Yet her call for kindness fell on deaf ears among show enthusiasts who promptly took to social media to express their staunch backing for the bride. A supporter commented: “Absolutely gorgeous person inside and out. The fact Kristina is single proves that most men are fundamentally stupid.”
Another shared their admiration: “Kristina is truly a masterclass in discussing your feelings respectfully while still saying what you need to say. She’s managed to call Kieran out and asked all the right questions while still being kind and never being argumentative.”
The much-anticipated series finale will be broadcast tonight (November 14), bringing the couples back together for the concluding commitment ceremony.
