Members of Wishaw YMCA have heard all about the progress the organisation has made over the past 12 months.
The group’s AGM was held at its new base in Quarry Street where locals heard all about a range of initiatives currently taking place.
Wishaw YMCA chair Mary Jean Ferguson said: “As our membership grows, we are made stronger. In the 10 months since we relocated to our new base on Quarry Street, we have grown our services, programs and our membership.
“This has been an incredible year so far and next year promises to be even better.
“All of this has been made possible by the support of our members, volunteers, staff and trustees.
“Thank you to all who have contributed to our progress.”
Speaking to Lanarkshire Live this week, Mary Jean revealed some of the new initiatives that will be coming from the YM over the coming months.
She added: “We recently received a grant from the Community Empowerment Fund to set up WYTV which will allow our young people to create content in and around Wishaw.
“All the content will be done by our young people and it will be very exciting for them. We can’t wait to see what they come up with.
“The momentum we are building at the moment is incredible.
“In the past year we have went from one member of staff to six people and our centre is now open every day from 10am to 2pm as well as at nights for kids activities.
“We really are putting our best foot forward and it’s amazing to see the support we have been getting from the community.”
