Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark says his side will have to fight from the first whistle to see off Shotts in the South Challenge Cup this weekend, having been burned by West of Scotland opposition already this season.
Clark has had John McKeown’s Premier Division side watched, and knows all about them, ahead of their clash at Hannah Park.
They’re involved in third-round action while fourth-round matches take place elsewhere, having had the first attempt postponed due to adverse weather.
Having been knocked out of the Scottish Cup first round by Auchinleck Talbot, Clark isn’t taking Shotts lightly.
He said: “It’s an interesting game. The last one was cancelled due to the weather, rightly so, and Shotts are in the league below us, the West of Scotland, but we know from past experience how good the standard is in that league.
“The one thing we can’t do is take Shotts for granted in any way, shape or form. I had them watched on Saturday, we know a lot about them, so we’ll be prepared.
“It’s a cup tie, so we’re going to have to fight from the start of the game if we want to get through.”
• Meanwhile, Clark says the club’s Remembrance service ahead of their journey to Berwick on Saturday was a poignant and moving commemoration.
He said: “The club do it really well. In the time I’ve been there that’s the second one I’ve been to, and it’s great just to remember.
“I was trying to explain to a lot of our players just how brutal it was, back then, how many people died in one day, and that sort of thing.
“They’re young, they don’t really understand, but I’m old enough to understand better what people went through, and it’s important to remember.”
