After a four-month break, Netflix has dropped the latest instalment of Cobra Kai episodes, delighting fans with five additional chapters of the concluding season.
Although he doesn’t feature in the final series, actor Thomas Ian Griffith left an indelible mark with his portrayal of Terry Silver in seasons four and five.
First introduced as the primary villain in The Karate Kid Part 3 back in 1989, he reprised his role in the fourth season of Cobra Kai in 2021.
Here’s all you need to know about Thomas, from his towering height to his actress wife, and even his initial refusal of the iconic role….
Height
Standing at an impressive 6ft 5, Thomas boasts a muscular build, which is beneficial given his training in Tae Kwon Do under Master Jun Chong.
In addition to Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo Karate, he’s also skilled in kickboxing, wrestling, and fencing.
He holds a black belt in kendo karate and has experience in stage combat.
Co-star wife
Thomas made his acting debut in the soap opera Another World from 1984 to 1987, where he met co-star Mary Page Keller.
The two portrayed on-screen lovers and eventually began dating before deciding to take their relationship to the next level.
They tied the knot in 1991 and have been together for 33 years. They are parents to two sons, Eamonn and Conner.
Terry Silver role
When Thomas was initially cast as Terry Silver in The Karate Kid 3, he believed the role was beyond his grasp given that he was only 28 during casting and the character was a Vietnam War veteran.
The actor also found it peculiar to be cast as an older adversary to Daniel, played by Ralph Macchio, despite being younger than him.
Nonetheless, he accepted the role which subsequently propelled his career to new heights. He reprised his role for Cobra Kai in 2021, featuring as the antagonist for both the fourth and fifth seasons.
