Strictly fans were left distraught after the result of the dance-off was leaked online overnight, with some saying it “left them in despair”. The results show airs on Sunday but is pre-recorded on the Saturday night after the live show, meaning that the name of the axed star often leaks online.

The Mirror knows the identity of the celebrity, but won’t be revealing it. The Twitter (X) account dedicated to leaking the results kept fans updated as the dance-off unfolded, announcing the first couple to find themselves in the bottom two before revealing the second pairing to join them.

Fans expressed their views online, with one stating “it’s a joke” that one couple still remained in the competition. Another agreed, suggesting they should be in the dance-off.

However, despite some agreeing with the result, others posted floods of crying emojis. Blackpool Week started with a bang on Saturday night, with Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell impressing with their American Smooth to Jump by Paul Anka while Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec set the dance floor alight with their Paso Doble to Torn by Nathan Lanier.

Heading into tonight’s show, the odds were against Wynne Evans and partner Katya Jones at 3/5, followed closely by Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał and Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas. The couple found themselves in the dance-off on Sunday against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu, with head judge Shirley Ballas’ decision to save them causing outrage among fans, reports the Mirror.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans opened up about the nail-biting dance-off on his BBC Radio Wales show, divulging why he believes judge Shirley Ballas chose to save him. Before his Monday show went on air, Wynne discussed the ordeal with Radio Wales colleagues Dot Davies and James Williams, where Dot expressed how “stressful” the night had been, urging: “I don’t want you to do that again! ” She also lauded Shirley, saying, “I’ve always said [Shirley’s] a good girl, I’ve always liked that Shirley. Good girl, saw sense! ” Wynne replied, “Gosh, I tell you. It was pretty nerve-wracking to say. And also I think I approach it from a different angle, I think, to some people because I’m having a good time, thrilled to be there.”

In the meantime, Shirley Ballas addressed the severe criticism she faced online, which led her to contemplate whether she should continue on Strictly Come Dancing. Some viewers vented their frustration on Twitter, accusing Shirley of showing favouritism, with one particular tweet stating, “Can we start a petition to get Shirley off this show, she doesn’t even bother trying to conceal her favouritism anymore and she’s head judge? ? It’s just not fair on the other contestants #strictly.”

To this Shirley wittily retorted with, “Where do I sign lol. Night night. X” Yet numerous fans flooded her comments in support, with one reassuring tweet reading, “That’s why you’re a judge and they are not. I personally love you on strictly, so take no notice.”

Another fan chimed in: “You have your opinion Shirley, as we all do. We don’t always have to agree with your judgement but it takes no effort to respect you. I’m sorry you’re getting so much negativity yet again, try to ignore it. You’re my favourite judge and I love that you follow your heart.”
