Glastonbury fans were left utterly frustrated this morning as a technical glitch stymied their attempts to secure tickets for the festival. During the process, hopefuls for Glasto 2025 were taken to a page featuring a green queue bar supposed to track their progress in real-time.
But annoyance brewed among those who logged in at 9am, finding their status stagnant as the queue seemingly froze.
Disgruntled ticket seekers took to X – previously known as Twitter – to air their grievances. One person posted in desperation: “Has anyone got #Glastonbury tickets yet? My green bits haven’t even moved? ” While another vented their exasperation: “#Glastonbury 10 mins in. 3 computers, an iPad and a phone. AND STILL ONLY 2 BARS. How is this humanly possible. Asking for a friend.”
A third shared their woeful experience: “2 bar green of death AGAIN #Glastonbury.”
Further disappointment was expressed by those who managed to reach the front of the virtual line, only to have their number rejected. “i can’t bloody believe it I’m absolutely devastated. I got through the queue and then it told me my queue number was rejected. I am on one bloody device on one tab, what on earth could I have done wrong? ! ! ! ! ! #Glastonbury @glastonbury @seetickets.”, reports the Mirror.
Another criticized the system saying, “this #glastonbury system is totally messed up @seetickets – countless friends getting ‘access denied’.”
And someone else recounted a heart-sinking moment: “Got to payment page and it crashed! ! ! ! Wtf I thought the queue system was to prevent that.”
Some have drawn parallels to the Oasis ticket fiasco earlier in the year, with one person remarking: “After the bin fire that was trying to get Oasis tickets, @seetickets and @glastonbury thought ‘hold my beer, we can make this process much, much worse’ #Glastonbury.”
The comment comes as fans were left reeling from the shock of this year’s Glastonbury ticket prices. Even without a lineup announced, hordes of music enthusiasts are scrambling to secure their place at next year’s festival, which runs from June 25 to 29.
Amidst the rush for tickets, many were taken aback by the cost. Those lucky enough to snag tickets tonight had to fork out an eye-watering £378.50, with a £75 deposit (plus coach fare) required immediately and the remainder due by April 2025.
Social media has been abuzz with reactions to the pricing, with one fan stating: “Just saw the new price for Glastonbury tickets and almost choked.”
Another chimed in: “2022 tickets were £280. This is getting ridiculous.” A further comment read: “I expect some legendary performances for the price we’re expected to pay! “.
While no acts have been announced yet, this year saw Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA take the spotlight on the iconic Pyramid Stage. There’s a change in the ticket purchasing process for Glastonbury this year. In the past, fans had to constantly refresh the landing page until they got a chance to buy tickets. However, this year, festival organisers have introduced a new booking system.
Fans will now be placed in a virtual queue and wait their turn for a booking window.
