Former Rangers star Borna Barisic looks set to leave Trabzonspor after just five months at the club.
The Croatian left back departed Ibrox in the summer after six years with the club having made 236 appearances for Rangers since his arrival from Osijek. However, his move to Turkey has been a disaster and he’s started just one league game this season. He’s played a total of four minutes in three sub appearances since September.
Now it was reported in the Turkish media that Barisic’s agent was summoned to Trabzon to negotiate a deal that would see a mutual termination of the 32-year-old’s contract. It would mean he would be free to leave and sign for a new club once the transfer window reopens in European countries at the start of January. Barisic claimed he had plenty of interest from several other clubs when he joined in July, alongside Rangers colleague John Lundstram.
He said: “He said: “I received other offers from many clubs in Europe, but Trabzonspor’s attempts to convince me to sign were very impressive. I spoke to the manager. In the process that followed, the agreement was completed in a couple of days. Our meetings progressed very quickly.
“It was also very easy in terms of making a decision. I spoke to my friends and they said very positive things about Trabzonspor.”
But he looks set to end his adventure in Turkey quickly.
