Record Sport’s star columnists Chris Sutton and Barry Ferguson have both weighed in on the prospect of Lennon Miller heading to Celtic and Rangers.

But Motherwell fans have hit the Hotline to warn the pair to keep their hands off – as the wonder kid is destined for bigger things. James McCaw emailed: “Here we go again. First Barry Ferguson and now Chris Sutton urging the Old Firm to snap up the best young talent and rather patronisingly suggest they could loan him back to get better by playing regularly (except against them). Lennon Miller is proving to be an exceptional talent and will probably go on to bigger and better teams than either of those two. As a Motherwell fan I can only wish him the best of futures.”

Meanwhile, Philippe Clement remains up against it at Rangers and the talk of Derek McInnes won’t go away. Hugh McKirdy emailed: “I’d advise McInnes to think hard should the Rangers job become available. He’s doing well at Killie and has control of the football side. The job at Ibrox is a bed of nails at the moment due to Celtic’s domination of the Champions league purse.”

Alex Morrison emailed: “Why would Rangers want to appoint McInnes? Played Celtic 55 times and been lost 44 with only eight wins, getting hammered many a time. Yet he sets his team up to give Rangers a game every time.” Reo Hatate avoided a red card at Killie the other week but one caller didn’t miss the officials after VAR chiefs admitted it was the wrong call.

Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “So the VAR team have decided that the Hatate foul at Kilmarnock was a red card after the damage is done. It’s the same officials making the same mistakes that always benefit the same club – just like in four out of five Old Firm games last season They should be nowhere near the Premier Sports Cup Final as they cannot be trusted.”

On to Scotland and the Nations League clashes on YouTube hasn’t gone down well with everyone.

Arthur Wyllie, Aberdeen, said: “Well done to the SFA for managing to have the game shown live, but who on earth was responsible for these ridiculous captions across the bottom of the screen YouTube? Probably the worst two were a reference to Kenny Dalglish was shown as ‘Kenny dog leash’ and Lyndon Dykes was once referred to as ‘Linda Dykes’! Will we still get the same ridiculous captions on Monday? Anyway, come on Scotland.”

Kevin Lord emailed: “Surely, if no TV company is interested in showing Scotlands games we can do away with daft o’clock kick offs and play at 3pm Saturday?”

Scotland has a cracker with Ben Doak coming through and Miller could be next. But some folk are worried about the production line.

Murray Jessiman, via email, said: “I agree with Steve Clarke but developing players falls back on their parent clubs. Celtic and Rangers and the top English Premier League clubs have great facilities for the youth system but the good players that come through end up going to other clubs as they can’t get first team football. Barcelona bring young players through the ranks and quite a few make it into the first team then on to play for their national team – that’s the difference.”
