The future of James Bond still remains unclear with fans desperately waiting to find out the next actor to play 007.
It has been reported that producers may have secured the latest Bond villain with none other than Colin Farrell being eyed up as the next antagonist.
But the producers are also on the hunt for the next Bond girl, and there are many actresses emerging as favourites to take a starring role opposite Daniel Craig’s super spy successor.
Hailing from all over some of the top names made their name on the cobbles, and others were born into stardom.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the top contenders.
Eve Hewson
Eve Hewson, whose famous dad is none other than U2 legend Bono, impressed fans with her role as Amelia Sacks in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.
The steaming murder mystery may be her ticket to one of the film world’s most coveted parts.
Gambling.com has her in the lead as the next Bond girl with odds of 6/4, although the Behind Her Eyes star is yet to address the idea herself.
Sydney Sweeney
Eve is just ahead of White Lotus star Sydney Sweeney in the rankings, with the Euphoria actress still remaining a strong favourite at 13/8 after months of speculation.
Her roles in the likes of Euphoria, The Handmaid’s Tale, Immaculate, Anyone But You, and Madame Web have turned her into one of Hollywood’s most wanted stars.
Nicola Coughlan
Nicola Coughlan who received huge praise for her portrayal as Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton has also been given good odds to appear in new Bond film.
‘Coughlan is also no stranger to the big screen having appeared in last year’s Barbie movie, and she would be a shrewd signing by Bond bosses.
‘The star is 7/4 to add a Bond film to her film credits,’ Gambling.com expert, James Leyfield commented.
Michelle Keegan
Former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has also been mentioned as a contender.
The actor delighted Netflix viewers in Fool Me Once earlier this year, and in March her odds cut from 5/2 to 7/4.
Michelle has the backing of her husband Mark Wright, who admitted while his wife has rubbished the suggestion she’s in the running, he thinks she could do it.
‘Why not,’ he exclaimed on his Heart radio show. ‘Imagine that, being Bond Girl, that is my dream shattered, of being the next Bond himself.
‘If she was the Bond girl it would be totally weird if I was Bond, maybe I’ll fight her for it.’
Charlotte Kirk
In October, Duchess actress Charlotte Kirk was third in the bookies’ list at odds of just 7/4 after giving a very coy response following a leaked casting call suggesting she’s in the running.
‘I am sworn to secrecy, I have to be very careful what I say,’ she told the Sunday Express. ‘I really like your readers, but I don’t want to have to kill anyone! Nothing is a hundred per cent, but it will just be an honour.’
Any potential Bond girl would have to screen test with whoever replaces Daniel Craig, but Charlotte did offer some insight into how the role evolved with Ana de Armas in No Time To Die.
‘This is a new era. Ana set such a standard with girls for Bond girls, showing that they aren’t just this sexy object for Bond to play around with,’ she added.
Fans are eagerly awaiting who will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Halle Berry, Michelle Yeoh, Ursula Andress and Lea Seydoux.
Jodie Corner, Kaya Scodelario, Molly Gordon, Jenna Ortega, Saoirse Ronan, and Grace Van Dien, have also all been name-dropped this year in the list of potential actors for the role.
When it comes to Bond himself, Bond producers have revealed they are looking to cast a male actor in his 30s and have said they are planning to completely ‘reinvent’ the character.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been heavily linked to a stint as 007, with James Norton, Henry Cavill and Regé-Jean Page also thrown into the ring.
