Ruth Langsford is reportedly set to fly out to Australia for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after her shock split from Eamonn Holmes.
The Loose Women panellist, 64, will be supporting her co-star Jane Moore, who is entering the jungle alongside the likes of Coleen Rooney and GK Barry.
Jane is following in the footsteps of Linda Robson and Janet Street-Porter, who have taken on Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s grim bushtucker trials in the past.
And it’s now been claimed Ruth will be cheering her on and appearing on the I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, hosted by reigning champion Sam Thompson, Joel Dommett and Kemi Rodgers.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star is heading Down Under after a ‘tough year’, a source has said, following her split from Eamonn.
An insider told The Sun: ‘It’s been a tough year for Ruth and she’s been putting her best foot forward, she’s thrilled to have been asked to appear on this the spin off show and fly to Australia ahead of Christmas.
‘She’s rooting for Jane and can’t wait to give her opinion on how she is getting on.
‘The production team are particularly excited they have landed Ruth to join them as they think she’ll be amazing and give the new format a boost.’
Ruth has faced a difficult year after her shock split from Eamonn, 64, following 14 years of marriage, with reports at the time stating work commitments had resulted in them drifting in ‘different directions’.
They’ve since said very little on their marriage coming to an end, though Ruth did previously take a cheeky swipe at her ex on Loose Women.
She later said that it’s been a ‘tricky time’ going through the split in the public eye, and it had been claimed she’d hired a ‘fierce’ divorce lawyer.
Fellow Loose Women star Jane, 62, has been dealt a blow before heading into the jungle, after recent odds revealed she was the most likely to quit.
The panellist and journalist said she’s hoping to bring debates and ‘good chats’ to the camp, and is looking forward to time away from her phone and laptop.
‘I have never done a reality show before and I’ve always said when we talk
about these things on Loose Women that this programme would be the one. I like an adventure and it appeals to me,’ she said.
Jane added that although she sees herself as ‘a gutsy person’, she’s preparing herself for the spiders, critters and eating challenges, laughing: ‘Vomit live on TV – now that is a career highlight!’
‘Physical reactions and emotions are something you can’t control,’ she went on.
‘And how you think you are going to react could be different. And so I could end up having a good blub!’
I’m A Celebrity line-up also includes Tulisa, Danny Jones, Oti Mabuse, and Melvin Odoom, with Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles reportedly joining as latecomers.
Metro has approached Ruth’s rep and ITV for comment.
