Strictly Come Dancing fans were seemingly underwhelmed on Sunday evening as they watched the tension rise with the finale on the horizon.

With each of the remaining celebrities giving their all to dazzle the judges and secure a spot in the final, Montell Douglas still ended up in a dance-off scenario regardless of her high score of 35 which placed her fourth on the leaderboard.

She had to perform her salsa routine again to Thelma Houston’s ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ alongside her professional partner Johannes Radebe in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Meanwhile, Wynne Evans and his partner Katya Jones scored a total of 31 for their dance, marginally avoiding last place on the leaderboard before reprising their Charleston.

When decision time came, the judges unanimously decided to save Montell over Wynne, concluding his journey on the competition. Nonetheless, viewers quickly turned to social media to express their dissatisfaction about Montell landing in the bottom two after such acclaimed performances from the judges.

One viewer stated, “Montell is a fabulous dancer. She should never be in any dance-off”, while another exclaimed, “Ffs! Underscored and bottom 2 again. Montell doesn’t deserve this.”, reports the Mirror.

Another chimed in asserting, “Travesty. Montell should be nowhere near the bottom 2,” and one more simply noted, “It might not have been Montell’s strongest dance, but her and Johannes absolutely do not deserve to be in the dance off.”

One fan tweeted: “What? ! Why aren’t people supporting Montell and JoJo? They deliver every week and never disappoint. Last nights routine 100% shouldn’t have landed them in the bottom at all. Gutted for them.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Sad for Montell to be in the dance off again. I feel she could easily be a finalist.”

After being eliminated, Wynne reflected on his time on the show, saying: “It’s been wonderful, I’ve got to say. I feel like it’s what Strictly is all about.”

Wynne added that he hopes future generations will continue to enjoy the show, saying: “If I can come and do Strictly and last until week nine, then anybody can get out there and dance and have a brilliant time.

Katya also shared her thoughts on their partnership, saying: “To be honest with you, the smile hasn’t left my face since the first day of our training, since the day we got partnered up. You [to Wynne] have made this experience so joyous and so full of laughter for me.”

She praised Wynne’s charming personality, saying: “I’m sure everybody was jealous because you’re the kind of guy that everybody wants in their life. You bring light, you bring laughter, you bring charisma, you fill up every room you walk into with those qualities”.
