Virgin River viewers have taken to social media to defend characters who have been branded “less likeable” ahead of season six, which drops on Netflix next month.

It comes after Netflix confirmed the popular show had been renewed for a seventh season, proving its continued popularity amongst fans.

Soon Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) will be back on our screens – but fans are now sharing some love for characters that might have been previously branded “annoying”.

Taking to Reddit, one Virgin River fan with the handle @gymnasylum wrote: “Lizzie has shown so much growth in her character, yet people are still annoyed by her character and I don’t know why.”

As well as praising Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), the fan also went on to give an honourable mention to other characters that might have earned a bad wrap in previous seasons.

“Preacher also deserves better than what he was given. I love this series so much. I can’t wait for the next season.” (sic)

Other fans took to the comments section to share their own thoughts on Lizzie, Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) and Jack (Martin Henderson).

“Lizzie is one of my favourites and I’m glad she’s staying around,” one penned with a heart emoji, while another disagreed: “I like Hope, Preacher, Brady, Paige…. Most of the unliked characters. But not Lizzie lol. I can’t!!” (sic)

“I’m so tired that he’s the bad guy. He wants to be better. I hope he has a better storyline next season but it’s probably doubtful with Calvin still looming over him.” (sic)
